When Words Aren’t Enough – A Plea for Action

It is time to act. Before another voice is lost. Before another family is broken. Before the silence becomes our only language. In today’s world, where human life seems to have lost its true worth, it’s heartbreaking to witness how easily violence is ignored and how rarely justice speaks. The issue of regulating harmful speech and taking firm action against violence is not just a legal matter—it is a moral one. While protecting freedom of speech is important, we must ask ourselves: what use is freedom when people are dying, and their voices are silenced forever?

The Unanswered Pain of Sana and Kashan

The brutal cases of Sana Yousaf and Kashan are not just stories; they are painful reminders of a system that continues to fail its people. Sana, a young model full of dreams, was shot and killed. Her voice, once heard by thousands, was silenced forever. Kashan, a young man with his whole life ahead, was allegedly abducted and murdered. Till this day, even his body has not been found. His family wakes up each day with hope, only to sleep in silence and unanswered pain.

How many more Kashans and Sanas must die before we realize that the value of human life has become alarmingly cheap? That in this so-called civil society, we are more offended by someone’s words than someone’s death? People are killed daily—some we hear about, most we don’t. Their stories disappear before they are even told. And yet, the response is silence. No strong policies. No accountability. No action. Just silence.

A Government’s Moral Duty: Beyond Regulation

The government’s job is not merely to regulate speech but to safeguard life. It is the right of every citizen to feel safe, to be heard, and to know that if something happens to them, justice will not sleep. Sadly, the reality is different. Instead of punishing real criminals, we’re often more focused on controlling opinions, censoring voices, and ignoring the blood on our streets.

We need more than condolences. We need commitment.

The government must invest in building a culture of justice and empathy. Through education, community awareness, and strong law enforcement, we must make it clear that every life matters. The loss of one innocent life should shake the entire system, not be buried beneath paperwork and silence. Because behind every victim is a mother who cries, a family who waits, and a society that must answer.
